About JLD
JLD Fine Woodworking is based in the Essex countryside, in the small village of Coggeshall.
From a young age, Stephen was fascinated by woodworking, building anything he could think of in his dad’s shed. In the photo, you can see a 13-year-old Stephen, over the moon with a small shelf unit he had just finished making. His passion for craftsmanship only grew from there.
Named in honour of his grandfather, John Leslie Davison, JLD Fine Woodworking is a tribute to a man who lived a meaningful life, put family above all else, and shaped Stephen’s values both professionally and personally. Every piece Stephen creates reflects that legacy, blending modern design, quality materials and timeless craftsmanship.
At the heart of JLD is a rejection of disposable culture. Stephen builds for those who believe furniture should stand the test of time. That’s why each piece comes with a lifetime warranty, giving clients peace of mind that their furniture is made to be cherished and handed down.
